Dr. J. Craig Charles
Dr. J. Craig Charles, Affinity Health Center’s Medical Director, is an Internal Medicine physician with a specialty in Infectious Diseases. He has been instrumental in Affinity’s growth and has been caring for patients here since 2001 as a contracted Infectious Disease Specialist for Catawba Care. Dr. Charles attended University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Alabama School of Medicine and Wake Forest University. He is a former Hospitalist at Piedmont Medical Center and has been in practice since 1998. He lives in Rock Hill.
Julie Blackman, CNM
Julie Blackman, Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), was born “down under’ in Australia and moved frequently with her diverse and large family, finally settling in North Carolina at the age of 15. Julie attended North Carolina State University originally as a biology major, then transferred to East Carolina University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1997. She worked in a variety of clinical settings and research with a focus on women’s health for 10 years. After getting married, she officially pursued her career in advanced practice nursing and received her Master of Science in Nursing with concentration in midwifery from East Carolina University in 2007. Prior to joining Affinity in May of 2017, Julie worked as a CNM at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, NC for approximately 8 years managing prenatal care and providing gynecologic services. She and her husband reside in Fort Mill with their two children.
Gerald Bracete, APRN
Gerald grew up in Cayey, Puerto Rico. He is the youngest of four and his parents still live on the island. He is a retired Army Nurse with 20 years of active duty service. He graduated from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico in 2004 with a BSN degree, from the University of Massachusetts in 2013 with an MPH degree and from the University of South Carolina in 2017 with a MSN – Family Nurse Practitioner degree. His favorite part of being a Nurse Practitioner is getting to meet people from all backgrounds and providing them with the compassionate care that they deserve.
Darlene Christmon-Washington, APRN
Darlene is an Indiana native and completed her psychiatric training at IU in Indianapolis, IN. As a psychiatric APRN, she has spent the last 10 years working at the VA where she proudly cared for the psychiatric needs of our veterans. She is excited about moving to the Carolina’s and looks forward to warmer weather and southern hospitality. She graduated from the IU school of nursing with a B.S.N. in 1993 and completed her MSN and psychiatric training at the IU school of nursing with a board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2007. As an RN, she cared for oncology patients at the IU Simon Cancer center where she was certified as both an oncology nurse and also as a research coordinator working with clinical trials in GYN cancers. She is grateful for the many patients she has cared for over the years and feels blessed to be given the opportunity to care for those who come to Affinity Health Center for their physical and mental health needs.
Hilary Harris, FNP
Hilary grew up in a small farming community in Utah but felt like she had come home when she moved to North Carolina in 2008. She relocated to Fort Mill, SC in 2017 and has enjoyed making South Carolina her new home. She graduated from Utah State University with a B.S. in Family & Human Development with an emphasis in Family & Community Services. She graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Nursing in 2009 and M.S. in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2012. She's served patients as an NP in the surgical oncology field, specializing in gastrointestinal cancers, melanoma, and sarcomas. She's also provided care for acute primary care issues in a convenient care clinical setting. She adds, "I’m blessed to be happily married and be the mother of a little boy full of life and energy. I’m excited to be part of the Affinity family and play a part in providing high quality healthcare. I believe that everyone has inherent worth and deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion."
Kwanita Hunt-Scott, PA-C
Kwanita is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant and Lowcountry native, who graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina, completing the state’s then solitary, Certified Physician Assistant program in 2002. Her enthusiasm and appreciation for the practice of medicine and helping others has been satisfied ever since. She has experience in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Pediatrics, and Family Medicine. She is a fellow of both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and SC Academy of Physician Assistants. She obtained National Committee for Quality Assurance Recognition for Diabetes Care. She enjoys the areas of Pediatrics, Women’s Health, and Adolescent/Teen Medicine. She believes in building a partnership with patients to assist them in achieving their best physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. She's a proud wife and mother of two children. Kwanita enjoys playing the piano and volunteering at her church with her family and friends.
Dr. Rhonnie Song
Dr. Rhonnie Song is originally from Chicago, IL where she was born and raised a Cubs fan. She attended Northwestern University and studied Mathematics, Political Science, and International Studies, and had pursued a career as a business consultant. Her husband is from London and as such had lived there as well as Dubai where she was an ABA behavioral therapist for autistic children. She pursued her medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she was awarded the National Health Service Corps scholarship. She finished her family medicine residency training at the Carolinas Medical Center (now Atrium Health) in Charlotte, NC and is board certified. She is blessed with a wonderful husband and two children. She is excited to be a part of Affinity Health where she will strive to be her patients’ champion and advocate!
Dr. Brittany Watson
Dr. Brittany Watson was born and raised in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. She attended Clemson University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She then moved to Charleston, SC where she obtained her medical degree from The Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Watson completed a residency in Family Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center (Atrium Health) in Charlotte, NC; where she served as chief resident. Dr. Watson is a board certified family physician with a wide range of interests, including women’s health, adolescent medicine, substance use disorders and chronic disease management. She believes that everyone has a right to high quality, affordable healthcare. Dr. Watson loves to engage in the community. She has a passion for public health and health care policy. At Affinity, she is looking forward to caring for the whole patient and their families.
Katie Laney, LISW, LCAS
Katie Laney is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Licensed Certified Addictions Specialist. Ms. Laney has a B.A. with a double major in Psychology and Communication Studies and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She provides therapeutic services individually to adults who are facing life transitions and personal, relationship, career, and physical/mental health-related problems. She has more than eleven years’ experience as a clinical therapist and addictions counselor working in non-profit agencies, outpatient substance abuse treatment centers, and medical settings. Ms. Laney previously worked as a behavioral health provider in an HIV medical clinic in Durham, NC. Her areas of expertise include treating individuals with HIV/AIDS, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse issues.
Niya Calderon, LPC, LAC
Niya Calderon serves as the behavioral health consultant for the agency. She's a licensed professional counselor, Licensed addictions counselor, and supervisor for LPC-interns. She's provided training facilitation for organizations in both SC and NC with topics in communication, emotional management, leadership, and coping with transitions. She’s passionate about working with individuals who are in challenging seasons. She thrives on providing encouragement, edifying, and restoring hurt emotions with cognitive change, practical skills, and spirituality to any individual or group she’s working with. Her high energy and relatable sense of humor helps many people stay engaged while working through difficult conversation.
Dr. Susan Collins
Dr. Susan M Collins has practiced dentistry in Rock Hill for 30 years. She obtained her dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She then completed a one year residency at Carolinas Medical Center earning membership into the Federation of Special Care Organizations in Dentistry and the American Association of Hospital Dentistry. She has 3 grown children that have all ventured out on their own so she can now enjoy quiet evenings at home with her husband and 2 cats.
